About the Event

This is a small club of 14 to ensure that we can give the children very close supervision.  If you would be able to come along and help the children, please just let Sam know.

In this course we will be exploring all aspects of basic cookery from hygiene, mashing, grating, mixing, cutting,  using the hob, oven and microwave. There will also be some washing and drying up!

The children will be invited to explore different foods which they may bring home or enjoy at the end of the class.  Sometimes they may bring something home to cook, or the children will share the food together at the end of the session. All foods will be fresh and where possible, unprocessed.  All foods and materials will be provided.  Your child will also be offered an apron, but we can't guarantee that your child won't get food stuffs on their clothes!

It is really important that you give full details of any dietary requirements such as allergies and  religious observances. Please also let Sam know if your child has any difficulties with food. She has experience of children with eating disorders and would be very happy to have a chat with you about how you manage any issues so that she can talk to the children in a way that is consistent with any methods you employ at home.

We will not be talking to the children in terms of healthy and unhealthy foods as we understand that for children who restrict the foods that they are prepared to try,  that eating anything is often a blessing. Rather we will simply be talking about balance. Again, if you wish to discuss anything with Sam just contact her, via the website.

At the end of the session Sam will bring the children out through the front door past reception at 4.30. We apologise but occasionally we do overrun by a few minutes as the children do like to cook and eat their food before they come home.

Due to the planning, preparation and buying of food we are unable to offer refunds for sessions not attended.

Each session works out at £8.50 per week, but we ask you to pay for the full 5 weeks to enable us to buy the materials and ingrediants needed.  Please note, that we have had to increase the cost of these sessions to reflect the rising cost of living.

Please also note that as a cooking club, the activities are directed and led, this means that the children will need to sit down and follow instructions.  If your child would find this difficult you are very welcome to come and give 1.2.1 support to your child, but we are not able to offer this ourselves.
